About George

George at the grillGeorge Heitman has been the Facilities Supervisor for CRISTA Camps for the past 30 years. He was first introduced to Camps when he met someone who worked there on a mission trip shortly after coming to Christ. As George began experiencing reconciliation in his life, Steve encouraged him to join the Camps team. He became a CRISTA employee in 1990 and admits that God did some humbling early on.  He went from building cool things with his own hands to mowing grass and unclogging toilets at camp. Looking back, he recalls it as the hardest year of his life making the transition to serve in ministry. And he realizes that it was an important and memorable year as God did a work in him to build him into who he is today.

“Romans 8:28 was the first verse I memorized,” said George. “This has been my life verse and God has restored me, given me great opportunities and purpose.”

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
