Bonnie’s Story

Bonnie is a confidence builder for our campers! Her steady personality wins their trust immediately.

When Bonnie first came to Miracle Ranch, she pulled wagons filled with guests around camp. In more recent years, we decided to train her to be a vaulting horse. Vaulting is when riders do gymnastics and dance on the back of a horse.

Bonnie is incredibly patient with our campers as they learn to get up on her back and perform basic vaulting moves. One of our favorite things about Bonnie is that she can impact so many campers at the same time. In our riding lessons there is one rider per horse. With vaulting, a group of 10 campers can practice moves on our vaulting barrels and then take turns practicing those moves on Bonnie during the lesson. Campers are not only empowered by being able to get up on such a tall horse, they are also encouraged as their cabin mates cheer them on and support them in the process.

Bonnie has helped numerous kids move beyond their current skill level and realize they can achieve something they didn’t know was possible.
